  • Welcome to VentureRider.  What started as a simple site for riders of the Yamaha Venture, Royal Star, Royal Star Venture and the Star Venture has turned into so much more than that.  Though the great Yamaha Venture motorcycles are still our primary focus, we have many members who have eventually moved on to other brands/models or who have stopped riding altogether but still remain members dud to the lifelong friendships they have made on this site.

Whether you have questions about your bike, looking for parts, or just wanting to talk motorcycles and riding, this is the place to be.  Our members are friendly and welcoming to all.  My name is Don, Freebird in the forums, and I started this site around 15 or so years ago.  I have met many of our members at our various rallies and meets and some I only know from their posts here on the site but am proud to call them friends, brothers, sisters.  I like to think of this as our club, not MY club.  I try hard to implement features that the members request.  It's not always possible but I do try.

This is a subscription based club.  You can read messages in most cases but can't post, search, and etc. without becoming a supporting member.  We do offer a free 2 month trial however so you are welcome to check us out before paying the small $12.00 per year dues.  Upon expiration of your trial membership, you will lose the ability to post messages.  At that time, you can click on "Store" and then "Subscriptions" if you wish to continue.  We hope you like what you find here.  We have few rules but the major ones are no religious debate, no political debate, and no "X" rated content, nudity, dirty jokes, etc.  We are a family oriented club so please keep things PG or at least PG-13 rated.

    • Had some electrical gremlins, pulled the right and left controls apart to clean all the contacts and I've misplaced the red plastic kill switch cap.  It does not appear as a separate part in the diagrams I'm finding.  Before I spend $50 on an eBay used control... I'm asking for help here.

Does anyone know if this part is available separately?  Does anyone have an old trashed control that they'd be willing to part with?

    • Yesterday the weather alternated between rain and snow all day.  I decided to do soma odds and ends on the bikes.  Hadn't checked the air pressure on Eileen's trike tires and found the rears to be over inflated by 10 lbs and the front was 5 lbs low.  Then decided to check the air in the rear suspension.   I apparently I gave away my last Prorgressjive air pump when I sold the last bike so had to go find one.  Found a Harley dealership open about an hour away so drove over to get it.  When I was checking out, the lady asked if I needed anything else and knowing that they don't normally stock Vance and Hines mufflers, I said yea, I need a pair of Vance and Hines mufflers for a 22 Road Glide Limited. She said great, I have a brand new set still in the. box that I ordered for a customer who changed his mind and will make you a good deal on them.  I had planned to eventually buy a set of Vance and Hines Monster Rounds.  These were Vance and Hines Torquer 450's and after doing a bit of research on them  and her knocking $300.00 off the price, I decided to buy them.

Got home and first checked her rear suspesion and found that it was set on. zero. pressure.  Got it adjusted properly. and about that time, Amazon delivered the KuryAkyn highway. pegs I had ordered for her so I. went. ahead and iinstalled them.  So now I'm done with her trike for now at least.  I've added a riders backrest, passenger backrest, KuryAkyn cup holder, phone mount with charger, Windshield pouch, and the highway pegs.  She is good to go.

So then I installed the new mufflers on my Road Glide.  in my opinion, they look and sound great.  At least sitting in the garage.  I actually like them better than the Monster Rounds.  I think the 4 1/2" gives it a considerably deeper sound the the 4" Monster Rounds.  It is a bit louder than stock but not obnoxious.  I'll know more after the weather gets better and I can get it on the   road.

All in all, a fairly productive day.
